At the recent "Yearly Meeting" of the bociety of Friends, held in London, end representing the entire body in

the United Kingdom, it was decided to propare a Memorial on the

present condition of the Anglo-Indian Opium Trade with China, for

present tion to the Prime Minister, copics alzo to be sont to the

Secretaries of State for India, the Colonies and Foreign Affairs.

I have been requested to ask if you woul: kindly arrange to receive

the deputation who have boen appointed, and who desire to present

the Memorial at an early a date as may be found convenient.
